Murphy, Texas Online Home SearchMurphy, Texas, is in Collin County and a suburb north of Dallas. Although the city is 5.3 square miles located right next to a large city and contains around 20,000 residents, it has a very small town, country lifestyle feeling to the city, making it comfortable for people looking to live near the big city, yet wanting a more relaxed lifestyle. Murphy is 20 miles from downtown Dallas and 30 miles from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The city was first settled in the early 1900’s and has been fast growing ever since it began; however, the community promotes a small town atmosphere with community events throughout the year, so everyone can interact and be active with other members of the community. There are a couple subdivisions which have been developing large projects with thousands of homes for sale every year. Each lot has a minimum of 9000 square feet, yet most lots are around 12,000 square feet. Seven years ago, in 2007, there were only 6,500 residents living in Murphy. As soon as the city built the highways leading from the inner city connecting to the surrounding cities, many people found Murphy to be a valuable city with small town aspects and atmosphere, just outside the big city. These aspects of Murphy also landed it in 7th positions on the “Best Places to Live” list created from a survey of Dallas suburbs in the July 2008 issue of D Magazine. Murphy continues to grow, developing new homes for sale and expanding their small town, country atmosphere right outside Dallas. |
