1. When staging a home, it is wise to not overdue it. You want the house to look lived in, but you don’t want the house to look lived in by 18 people. Keep everything super clean, neat, and not a cluster.
2. Make everything shine. Always before your open house, or pretty much at all times you want everything to shine and look good. If this means taking 2-3 hours to clean all of the floors, chairs, lamps, etc, its worth it.
3. Know your colors. When staging a home with furniture you do not want to put a link zebra print chair in the middle of the living room of a nice traditional home. Stick with simple neutral furniture and things should be good.
4. Get help from friends. Often times people hire out way to much help when staging homes. You can probably stage a home yourself as long as you get a little bit of help from your friends along the way.
5. Double check everything. After you spend all afternoon staging your home, you want to go back a week later if the house has not sold by then, and check the furniture and fixtures to see if they still look good to you. Maybe you will want to switch something out at this point.
